Well, u can take private lessons to get ur private license but this is very expensive. Look up schools in ur area & ask for prices-it is not cheap & it is time consuming. You could also join the military-if u have a four year degree. If u want to be a pilot in the military u have to have a college degree. To do this u need to go & talk to a recruiter. You have to have very good grades & there is a long application process with interviews, tests & physicals. It is very difficult to get in this way & very few people do. My husband got a pilot slot in the Air Force like this, but it took 2 years. (There is also an age limit-you have to be under 29 when u start Pilot Training). If u have not gone to college then u need to get a degree. The easiest way to get a pilot slot is to go to the Air Force Academy, they get most of the spots. You can go to another 4 year college & go through ROTC also. If u get a pilot slot the Air Force will pay for u to get ur private license. My husband had no flight experience & he now has a private license & a commercial licensee did not pay a dime. Good luck!

What kind of pilot? There are huge differences between earning your private pilot certificate to fly for fun and qualifying to fly as a career.
What country? It is a lot more expensive to learn to fly in Europe than it is in the United States.
Your question is too broad without more details. Add specific information for a better answer, or search questions that have already been asked. Some form of this question is asked several times a day.

l would suggest starting off at your local airport instructor or a nearby flight school to get your private pilot certificate. Most small pilot schools will offer a cheap intro flight and get you started in the right direction.

Time: l worked 40hrs/wk & did my pilot training. It took one year plus. If u have more time available, l highly suggest that u fly at least 2 times a week (or at least once a week). You will get ur license in less time. The national average is 71 hours. l got mine in 62. A friend of mine flew during the 3 months of summer & got his PPL in 45 hours. It can be done!
Cost: Unfortunately, the cost of fuel has made the rental prices rise. The rental prices r ''wet'' meaning fuel is included in the price of the rental. At a flight school in the out-skirts of a major metropolitan city, a Cessna 152 will run u $85/hr. A Cessna 172 with regular guages will run $110/hr & A 2008 Cessna 172 with the new avionics package called Garmin G1000 will run $135/hr. There r other training aircraft: Diamond DA20-C1 & the reliable Piper Cherokee/Warrior.
Quick version - Qualifications: 1) Read, write & speak English fluently 2) Pass, at least, a third class medical 3) Student pilot certificate is issued at 16 years old 4) Pass a FAA written exam 5) Demonstrate aeronautical knowlege to a FAA Certified Examiner & 6) Pass the flying part with a FAA Certified Examiner. You can read the ''breakdown'' of hours u need (such as solo time, cross-country, etc.) if u obtain a FAR/AIM book (Federal Aviation Rules/Aeronautical Information Manual) - read FAR 61.87.
Good luck & safe travels.

this is for private for commercial time the price by 1.5
small schools r 5000 to 6000 dollars which is the cheapest
medium school r 8000 to 9000 dollars
large schools r 10000 to 12000 dollar maybe even higher
i prefer a small school because it cheap & the instructors focus only on u & the rent of the plane is cheaper & the instructors r cheaper
the best thing about them is the pay as u go so it could take 3 weeks of 3 years
at small schools airplane rentals r 75 hour & 30 for the flight instructor
at large schools air plane rentals r like $125 an hour for planes & $45 an hour
ground school prices vary the only thing is u have to buy some books
all u need in education is an 8th grade lv math to add up time & other number
or u could join the us air-force where it is all free

Let me share with u how l went about to getting my licenses,
I’m a current Grad Student at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, & l got a Bachelor’s of Science in Professional Aeronautics (BSPA) & a Minor in Aviation Safety. l got it through an extended campus now called Embry Riddle Worldwide. They r over 130 centers throughout the US & many countries. They r very cheap tuitions as compared to main campus, & more practical for pilots & mechanics. Let me share with u how & where l did my training, it just might be of interest to you.
l started out by going to main campus Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fl. l went there for 1 term before l realized the training environment & hellacious costs were way too over the top. l had no experience in aviation, & l had no family members in aviation, but l knew l wanted to be a pilot, & l chose Embry Riddle because their name popped up everywhere l asked.
However, l did my homework as u r doing right now, & l found that there was a flight school near where l lived in Hillsboro, Or. Hillsboro Aviation is the name of the school, & they had just started a 141 approved flight program in a partnership with Portland Community College (PCC). PCC was offering an Associates of Applied Science is Aviation Science. The degree program was designed for men & women who wanted to get their flight training from private through instrument flight instructor in two years while attaching & AAS to the resume.
l started that program & instantly saw a great opportunity to accelerate my career. l finished my private, & then started my instrument rating. l got that in a couple months & then went strait into my commercial training. l was in commercial training for about 6 months, & as most people do, l did my mult-engine training during this time. This is done because as the Federal Aviation Administration has established, it is possible to take ur single / multi commercial check ride in one day to save a lot of hassle & money. It made for a longer day, but saved me from having to pay for another examiner.
Once l got my commercial license, l went to the Embry Riddle extended campus 10 miles away from my house & enrolled in their BSPA program. l transferred in 33 semester credit hours for my commercial license, & another 34 or so from Portland Community College. See the BSPA program is actually a program which gives students credit for their experience in aviation, so the major for the degree is strictly u based off of licenses & nothing else. This meant that l only had to compete minor & some upper level electives to finish the degree.
l only took 15 total classes from the extended campus at cost of $8,000, so my bachelor’s was very affordable. Then community college courses, only cost me $4,000, & the flight training of course cost the most, but nothing compare to the 150,000 dollar bill to going to main campus for four years. My total flight cost at the time was $40,000 for a total of $52,000 for everything.
Their prices have since increased, & Hillsboro Aviation is now costing around $51,000 for the professional pilot program, but that gets ur private, instrument, commercial single / multi, CF l (Certified Flight Instructor), CFI l (Certified Instrument Flight Instructor), & ME l (Multi-engine Instructor). Aviation has a philosophy of new bee’s teaching new bees, & as a flight instructor, u can build the necessary hours to land a job with the airlines. Look around & see what u find, u might find some interesting options. As a note of advice though, 141 approved flight programs r more structured, faster paced, & as a result, less hour requirements. If u stay sharp, u can hit those hours on the head & save a lot of money.
If you’re interested in what 141 means, it’s a section in the federal aviation regulations. IN other words, it’s a different set of training laws than found under part 61. Which is far less structured, has higher hour requirements, but it has its advantages as well. You have more control over ur training, & u don’t have to follow the structured syllabus for 141 school. If u can find a flight school that has very good rates, check them out, but they don’t have the training resources like the 141 schools, & the time frame is generally longer. Also one last thing, Hillsboro Aviation is also a helicopter school if that interests you, & they have hundreds of international students each year, as do many schools in the US. If u have any questions, feel free to drop me a line.
Good luck on u dreams
