Can an american citizen join the luftwaffe

l am an american citizen but l wanna fight for the air force of my fatherland germany... is it legal?

Well considering the number of Luftwaffe bro is who would like to fly in the USAF.
You also realize that the Bundeswehr is not held in ANYTHING like the regard armed forces r respected in the US-just letting u know. The term ''vaterland'' is also taboo-as it still has a Nazi-era taint to it: ''Heimat'' is more politically correct.
Specifically: enlisting in a foreign military is an automatic & permanent renunciation of ur US citizenship.
To enlist in the Luftwaffe, u must be a German citizen. Obtaining German citizenship will not be easy for you-especially as an American (i.e you're not a refugee). Germany has some of the toughest rules on residency & citizenship in Europe.
Join the USAF & get stationed in Deutschland-a much more mature decision, but l assume u want assurance rather than discussion so try here:

Well l think you need to take the citizenship of germany and then you should apply for it...
