My grandson is bright, flying-mad, and has only one ambition in life, - to be an airline pilot. To FLY AEROPLANES...
Problem. He is not got a rich father, and I am not rich enough to sponsor him . .. leastwise, my other 7 grandchildren would feel most aggrieved if he got all ''their'' dough.... and I'd like to be fair to them all, -'cus l love them all dearly and equally.
So, Houston,  .. We have a problem... How do Airlines get their pilots?How can my Grandson become a pilot?

(P.S. - l was a pilot in my younger days, and paid my way to my Private Pilot is Licence... .. but l never had ambitions to make it my career, so l still do not know how it is done)

The easy way? Tell him to join the air force

When he retires from the forces he will have the best training and can move on to commercial airlines if he choses

For being an Airplane Pilot you need full training and skill.

l have a number of friends who secured their private pilot license
and one who got his instrument ratings but still could not get
jobs as airline pilots. They did work for airlines, but not flying,
so that route is no guarantee.
Many airline pilots were trained by the military and some work their
way up from air taxi and feeder lines.
With the trouble the airlines are in today, he might look for another
career. Maybe air traffic control.

small schools r 5000 to 6000 dollars which is the cheapest

medium school r 8000 to 9000 dollars

large schools r 10000 to 12000 dollar maybe even higher

i prefer a small school because it cheap & the instructors focus only on u & the rent of the plane is cheaper & the instructors r cheaper

the best thing about them is the pay as u go so it could take 3 weeks of 3 years

at small schools airplane rentals r 75 hour & 30 for the flight instructor

at large schools air plane rentals r like $125 an hour for planes & $45 an hour

ground school prices vary the only thing is u have to buy some books

all u need in education is an 8th grade lv math to add up time & other number

or u could join the us air-force where it is all free

you get hired by bidding on which job u want to fly for the days u r available

It is becoming much easier because due to recent shortages of airline pilots a new type of license, the MPL has been introduced. It requires very few hours of training compared to the previous conventional route of becoming an airline pilot. It requires as few as 240 hours. Technically the individual is not even required to solo.There r a number of airlines around the world hiring people with this license, none in the US that l know of. Some airlines r even paying for ab initio training for qualified applicants.
