Will l be able to use my cell phone on flight on a private jet while in flight?
l know my cell phone would work up there because one time l forgot to turn it off and l got text messages and a few calls.

Yes but, only if you are on the ground level (and if the pilot clears you).

In flight you are 30K feet (6 miles) above ground and your cell phone just cannot transmit nor receive that far.

You were lucky. l test these thing and my cell phones were always without service in flight.

Good Luck..

Above approximately 5,000 or so ft, u will lose cell phone reception in 99% of areas. The other 1% will soon lose reception too as the plane climbs. Private jets cruise between 30,000-40,000ft. Your cell phone & the ground stations CAN send/receive that far (line of sight - about 6-8sm is doable) - but the ground antennas do not transmit the signal upwards. Furthermore, it is against regulations on a US registered aircraft to use a cell phone while navigating on an IFR flight plan (wich that jet will be). Do not worry though - a lot of private jets will have their own internet & phone links that use either satellites or special ground stations.

To sum it up, ur cell phone will NOT work about 1 minute after takeoff.

l do not see why not. the cell phone thing is to keep the public satisfied not any particular safety issue. how will l be able to sleep if you are chattering or arguing into a phone right next to me.

Sometimes they work in the air and sometimes they dont. If they do work they usually only work for a very short period of time.like recieveing a text..Im not sure why this happens but it does.

Please do not do it. Your cell phone will be transmitting a signal from a high altitude, covering a huge ground footprint within line of sight. Other cell sites than the one u r using will have no idea about this & will happily route calls on the frequency u r using. The cell phone customers who these calls r for will be receiving the signal from ur cell phone mixed with the signal for their cell tower.

You *will* cause other people is calls to drop. You will cause broken handoffs. You will cause interference.

It is illegal & selfish. Please do not do it.
