And l do love planes and l know not to push the wheel (l am pretty sure thats what it is called) directly down because it will go straight down. l will just barely push the wheel.Just barely.Do not forget, tell me to add details! :-)

The fun part id structual failure due to corrosion of the aluminum. This often occurs in areas that are hard to inspect and with the high cost of repairs is often neglected and leads to things like the rudder becoming ''separated'' from the airframe, wing roots cracking leading to wing failure and a spiral to what they call a ''loss of separation'' from the ground. Ask about the 172 is age and consider it is probably been used to train AKA hard landing many other students.

Your feet will be used for steering. the yoke controls your descent--altitude, pitch, roll.

Clearly you wo not be alone, and the pilot sitting in the co-pilot seat will take over if you can not handle it, especially on landing.

If this is an introductory lesson with a qualified instructor, in which you are a willing participant enjoy you have nothing to worry about. Your instructor will keep you safe.

C172 sky hawks are every where that has to say something l am ATC and see them every day l am on position. Lots of people like them.

Now if it is training, with an Instructor, most likely u will have a problem free-flight. As so long as u r with an Instructor - most of the time it should be perfectly fine. If u take control, & Instructor is there to guide u carefully.

l find there r ample enough causes to create a malfunction of the aircraft - though this has been discussed. My suggestions would be to listen to everything the Instructor says, pay attention, have FUN, & enjoy ur time up there.

To a previous answerer, u do not steer with only ur feet in the air! That would be a very bad habit of uncoordinated flight that could easily lead to a spin. Use both the turning of the yoke & rudder pressure (controlled by ur feet). l wo not get into specifics as to why u use both, because as a student pilot ur instructor or ground school will cover that fairly early on.

In regards to the original question, do not worry nothing is expected of u on an introductory flight. The instructor will assume that u know little to nothing about controlling a plane & will guide u through everything. The instructor will be there to handle any ''bad'' situations.

If this will really be an introductory flight, then it will be with a flight instructor (CFI) sitting right beside u with complete access to the controls. Your instructor will show u some basic things about flying, but at no point will u be responsible for making the airplane do what u want. That comes later--much later.

So u do not have to know ANYTHING about what the controls do or how to operate them at this point. That is what u will be there to learn.

You r a bit too young to really make use of an introductory flight. You should not schedule one before ur 16th birthday. At no point do u HAVE to fly this airplane next Saturday. If u do not feel u r ready, just tell them u r not ready.

You can not become a student pilot (having soloed) until u r 16, anyway. It is very nice if someone has given u this introductory flight as a gift. It is a very nice gift, but u should be able to tell them u feel u r a bit too young & ask the person if u can wait & have it when u r old enough to really take flying lessons (that is, 16).

On the other hand, if u think u can calm down & enjoy it, there is no real reason not to go. Cessna 172s r very safe. Enjoy!
