A combination of catastrophic engine failure and pilot error will probably be determined as the causes, along with any adverse meterological conditions (like strong crosswids) that may have been present at the time.

they knew there was a problem before it took off they said they fixed the problem and were told they can go again right way , if that was to happen here known there is a problem they would get the passengers go either use another plane or transfer them to the next day to make sure the plane is fixed properly

Its so sad that 150 poor souls perished. However the plane is designed to take off with just one engine so it was something more than one engine failure possibly a fuel problem which would have effected both engines.

l just dont understand why the pilot still continued the flight after detecting there was a problem in the left engine.. but nevertheless l think its a pilot error case why did the pilot did not brought the aircraft to a safe ram,p for an additional check??

it was devastating, over hundred people intended to take a vacation in the heaven island but now they've been to the heaven of the god. it must have been the act of god!
i wonder if the left engine catching fire has something to do with the problem it'd been checked out before it took off?let is wait for the investigation report.
nevertheless, the souls left, hope their families will recover from the suffering soon

Its a pity that the people that build planes can not find a new type of fuel that can be less flammable!

l believe the combustion chamber has ruptured allowing neat fuel to be bypassed into the engine & hot exhaust area causing a massive vaporisation of fuel & the explosion & subsequent fire.

This engine on which is fitted to MD82 was a similar to an accident in Manchester many years ago.

The pilot would have had throttle stagger unaware of the state of the engine.

With a full fuel load, passenger & weight l believe the single engine would not have been able to produce the thrust to get the aircraft airbourne.

With Madrid being 2500 feet above sea level & high temperature the thrust being produced is decreased.

A very bad accident & l only think why he returned back to the stand & what problem & symptoms he had.
