To answer your question yes. These are aircraft certified in the Restricted category with special limitations. Some other aircraft are EXPERIMENTAL aircraft with a Special Airworthiness certificate issued limitations that may prevent them also.

The new Light Sport Aircraft are limited to how high they can fly so if you want to call this a ban it would apply as well.

You can find the certification limitation in Title 49 Part 21 and FAA Order 8130.2.

Yes. Besides experimental aircraft, small aircraft r prohibited from some major airports, such as ORD, JFK, LGA, ATL, SFO, LAX, etc.

Also, gliders r prohibited from most FAA-controlled airports.

Faster-than-sound aircraft r prohibited from flying faster than sound over the USA. The Concord used to fly into IAD, & then flew sub-sonic to DFW & returned to IAD.

Many airports have weight restrictions & size limitations.

Dan

Depends on the type of aircraft, whether the pilot has filed an IFR or VFR flight plan, the type of airspace to be entered. And Dan, please name the type of small aircraft prohibited in ATL. l have personally flown to ATL in a small aircraft. Yes, there are restrictions to several different types of aircraft, but there are many variables. As for flying supersonic over the US, it is done every day. There are certain restrictions on altitudes however.
