Well of course it COULD be. Nobody in their right mind would do it though since landing normally would be more difficult.

Though rare, the Harrier can land like a normal jet if the VTOL vents are broken or damaged. Because the jet only has two wheels under the fuselage, the stabilizing struts on the wings will be lowered to have landing stability.

The VTOL system can be manually adjusted to a permanent landing configuration so that the aircraft can land in case of an emergency.

Yes it can land conventionally, and l guess such landings reduce thermal/stress loads on the Pegasus (22,000lbs thrust or so). The landing gear and outtrigger wheels do retract. As for the landing speeds, well l do not know that but Ido know that its as variable as can be due to the ''swivell-ability'' of the exhaust nozzles.

l am not sure of its optimum touch down speed, but yes, it can land like a normal jet, and take off, its engines can swivel to allow it to take off vertically or horizontally, as sometimes the Harrier might be to heavily loaded (with weapons, fuel etc.) to take off or land vertically.

And the wheels do not retract for landing, only for flying to reduce drag. How would it land if its landing gear retracted????????????????
