It is too much to try to explain in this format, and it really requires pictures and diagrams to explain clearly. Try an internet search on ''basic aerodynamics'' or ''how an airplane flies.'' That will bring you lots of information including the pictures and diagrams you need so that you can understand the principles.

You can also go to http://howstuffworks.com for a good article on ''How airplanes work.''

Good luck!

It flies because it directs air downwards as the wings of an airplane move through the air.

Imagine a piece of paper. If u tilt the paper slightly upwards, air hitting the bottom will create a high pressure zone (if u were moving forward fast enough) while a slight vacuum would be create above the paper because some of the air that would have gone over the top is now going to the bottom, which creates a low pressure zone.

Since the high pressure zone is on the bottom, the piece of paper wants to go up, because air wants to flow from high to low pressure.

As the wings of the airplane move forward through the air, they pull air downwards from above the aircraft, & push it down behind the the airplane as they move along. The wings do this because they r flat & thin & slightly tilted upwards (the front edge is higher than the back edge), which twists the air above the wings as they pass. The wings have to pull hard to move all the air downwards, & the air tries to push the wings upwards instead. This lifts the wings, & holds up the airplane.
