it wont crash. its fun to fly. just sit back and relax. after the initial take off you will start enjoy flying and want to go all time :)

once you're airborne you feel almost like your just sitting still so take something to read on a trip from michigan to las vegas

Good question, l also face the same fear. l read this stat. that you need to be on airplane in the air for 1,200 years nonstop so that there could be a problem in the flight. Do not worry :), you will be fine, l travel to Europe twice a year, for the past 9 years. l am fine.

they have sooo many backup plans and for a plane to crash like a million things would have to go wrong l got over it because my friend told me if you think about it people die way more in car crashes than ever in plane crashes so in theory you should be more scared to get in a car than in a plane trust me it is really rare and now a days they have backup plans like no other

what? crash duh. its not going to crash as long as the pilot is not drunk and not a somekind of a killer pilots are a highly skilled profesions here in the world of aviation. nevertheless, pilots do also, commit errors but its a very rare case since air travel is most safe and errors will only through unexperienced incidents.

Do not worry about the plane crashing, You have a better chance of getting hit by a car crossing the street then a plane crashing, just relax during the flight take deep breaths, u will feel better when ur actually in the air at cruising altitude, just do not freak out on the take off or landing, those r propably the worst parts for people who fear flying l think, just close ur eyes & sit back & relax & remember take deep breaths, u will be fine, l hope this helps answer ur question

When l first started flying lessons l was terrified of flying in a small plane so what did l do?

l threw my self into the plane put my seat belt on closed the door & before l noticed the engine was running we were taxiing & at that point there wa no going back we took off l kept my head at the window & sure enough it was beautiful & calming & l loved it.

Here is how l look at it it is like going swimming the pool is always a bit to cold when u stick ur legs in but the only way to get in is to just jump right in & u only feel cold for a few seconds it is then nice & calming

Here r some facts to help ease ur mind:

Since 1989, over 3 BILLION people have traveled on the worlds airlines. Only a few thousand have been killed or seriously injured in that time. Given those odds (about 100 million to one), u have a much higher chance of being killed by lightning or contracting a fatal form of cancer during the next week.

Also, keep in mind that every week there is the equivalent of a Boeing 747 load of people killed (over 350) in auto accidents on US streets & highways. EVERY WEEK of the year. Your chance of being involved in a fatal accident on the way to the airport r many thousand times higher than being in any kind of aircraft mishap. Riding in a car is what u should be more worried about.

Airline pilots r the most highly trained & constantly retrained & scrutinized professionals in the world. They actually r more closely regulated than surgeons & r highly trained to handle all kinds of emergencies. l just got out of a week of recurrent simulator training & they threw every in-flight abnormality & emergency at me that u can imagine. Things that rarely or never happen in real life, but l am ready for them nonetheless.

While flying is inherently dangerous if u do not get it right, ur life will not be in any danger on that flight because u will be in the hands of experienced professionals. Pilots do not take risks & they want to make it through the flight & get home to their friends & families just like u do. l have been flying for over 30 years (23 years professionally) & in over 16,000 flights l have never had a serious problem that endangered the aircraft, passengers, or crew.

Be sure to tell the gate agents or flight attendants that u r nervous about flying & they will do everything they can to make it a better experience for you. Too bad u can not have a pilot sitting next to u to explain everything that u see / hear / feel. That kind of knowledge goes a long way toward dispelling any anxiety.

Relax. Enjoy the experience. It really is the safest form of public transport.

It has been proven that air travel is very safe. You r more likely to crash on the way to the airport than to crash in the plane. The standards for aircraft r very high & all of the crew on the plane r working to keep the plane safe.
There could be some strange sounds that may scare you, but these r almost always normal. If everyone else seems OK, it is not a problem. Try finding out more about airplanes, u will find that the more u know about it the less scared u will be.

Im Australian so l dont know if there r any rivers or anything between there, but if there arent just think about it. Even if the plane did crash (which it wont) u would crash on the ground. The pilots r also trained if anything goes wrong.

When a plane crashes on the ground u can get out & safe.

Dont worry about it mate. Everything will be fine. Just think of what u have to do when u get down. It takes ur mind off things. U can also watch the tv if they have one. Just bring something to take ur mind off the flight. =-] HAVE FUN!!!

l like the suggestion made already, that u take a ride with a flight instructor in a small airplane. l am also a pilot & former military flight instructor. I've flown with many 'first-time' flyers including one poor young female sailor that rode with me to an aircraft carrier..omg was she scared. l always make it a point to help educated my passengers about what to expect.why the noise, why the bumps, why the wings flex, why & how the airplane turns, climbs, descends, ..and especially what happens during landing-- gear, flaps, line-up corrections, descent issues. It generally seemed to help. btw, there is a general perception that 'small' airplanes r scary..the truth is that they r exceptionally safe if flown by a competent professional. They probably r more noisy & because they r a little slower/lighter, u may feel more of the bumps..but it is only perception.
